Do you have DVD/BLU Ray cleaners?

The library has a cleaning kit for DVD or BLU Ray that can be checked out for three weeks. You can search for the kits under "DVD Cleaner" in our online catalog. These kits may help with some disk playback issues.

How do I put in my library card number?

Some of our online services require you to enter your library card number to use the service from work or home. This simple but important step allows our services to verify that you are a patron of our library.

It is important that you enter your card number correctly. When asked for your library card number, put in all the numbers -- without spaces or dashes. If you get an error message, please double check that you have not mistyped your card number.

If the error message persists, feel free to call your local library or contact us via our online contact form.

How do I get a library card?

All residents of Jasper County, Indiana, except for Carpenter Township, are part of the JCPL service area. All you need to get your free library card is to present a photo ID and proof of your current address at any of our three libraries. For more information, please check out our Circulation Policy.

Searching Overdrive by Genre

On the main Overdrive page (in the menu at the left side of the page) there are menus for some broad fiction and non fiction genres. Click 'more' to see Overdrive's genre list. They don't list all genres, but there are a few that may help you search.

You may also enter a specific genre in the quick search box. Don't be afraid to be specific or creative (Chicago mysteries, teen paranormal romance). The Overdrive search engine is pretty robust and may give you just what you were looking for!

Where can I find information about unclaimed property in Indiana?

The state of Indiana has a handy website for those looking for unclaimed property information: www.indianaunclaimed.com.

You can also find information by phone or mail through the office of the

Indiana Attorney General,
Unclaimed Property Division
P.O. Box 2504
Greenwood, IN 46142
Phone: 1.866.IN.CLAIM (1.866.462.5246)

How do I check my library account from home?

You can check your library account from home using either of our catalogs, found on the Library Catalog page.

Once you have selected a catalog, click on the link to login to your library account.

You will need your library card number, and the PIN set up for you by library staff.

Note: This is not necessarily the same PIN that you use to access the internet at the library.

If your PIN does not seem to work, call your library during normal working hours and we can set one up for you over the phone.

Where can I go to find the value of my old books?

The library does not offer a book appraisal service. The Library of Congress has a good guide to help you start down the road to having your own books valued by a professional, and how to decide whether you want to take that step.
