This spring the Fairchild House in DeMotte will turn 90, and there will be a new book to tell the story of the family behind one of Jasper County's enduring landmarks.

Take a step back in time and meet the Fairchild Family, early pioneers with a vision for the small town of DeMotte, Indiana by coming to the DeMotte Library, where local author, Pat Kopanda will be visiting, discussing her new book, The Fairchild Family History & Lore.

This program, offered twice this month, will be held on the library’s Main Floor on Thursday, April 19 @ 10 am and again on Tuesday, April 24 @ 7 pm.

Come hear about DeMotte settlers and early entrepreneurial leaders, the Fairchild family, their struggles, successes and the legacy they left behind as they tamed the wilderness that is now DeMotte.

Registration is appreciated to attend, and copies of the book will be available for purchase and signing by the author. Register online by clicking either of the links above or visit or call the DeMotte Library at 987-2221.
