New app.

OverDrive has announced that a new version of the OverDrive app for Android, iOS (iPhone/iPad/iPod touch), and Windows 8 is here!

With this update, users should no longer need to set up and authorize an Adobe ID during the installation process — one of users most frequently requested enhancements.

September is National Library Card Sign-Up Month. Many communities add record number of cards this time of year as families get settled into new communities, new schools, and new libraries.

But whether you are new to JCPL, or have been a patron here since before you could walk, here are 10 reasons why this month is worth celebrating:

September is National Library Card Sign Up Month, and in honor of this special occasion, all three branches of the Jasper County Public Library will be celebrating throughout the month by offering a small prize to everyone signing up for their first library card with JCPL.

It all started with a light fixture. Simply changing a light fixture in my dining room led to a total renovation that has lasted since March; it is now August and we can safely use the phrase, “out with the old, in with the new,” because the work is now complete.

Did you know the first annual Touch of Dutch Arts & Crafts Festival was started by the Friends of the DeMotte Library 39 years ago on August 16, 1975? The Friends wanted to find a way to benefit the DeMotte Library and give local artists and craftsmen a place to display their talents.

The late, great, Dr. Seuss is quoted as saying, “Fantasy is a necessary ingredient in living. It’s a way of looking at life through the wrong end of a telescope and that enables you to laugh at life’s realities.” In reading my most recent fiction selection, I began to wonder about the difference between truth and fiction.
