It's never too early to prepare for life after school

For the next few weeks, area graduates will be focusing on those last steps before they walk down the aisle and get their diploma. But for other high-school-aged students, now is also a good time to be thinking about what happens next.

Whether you plan to attend college, vocational school, or the military, there are processes than can begin now so students can be ready next spring.

Jasper County Public Library maintains an information guide that can help. This guide, "What do I do after High School?," is updated each year with the SAT and FAFSA deadlines for the current year. There are also links for SAT, ACT and ASVAB testing, test preparation, and links to learn more about the TASC, the new replacement for the GED in Indiana.

There are also links to help you choose a college and pay for it, including links to scholarships that are only available to Jasper and Newton county students, and others that are only available to Hoosiers.

Life after high school can be one of the most stressful times of life, but it is usually one of the most exciting and rewarding. Congratulations to all the upcoming graduates, and we wish you the very best!
