Jasper County to be captured in poetry

Indiana Bicentennial Logo

Attention all Jasper County poets – In 2016, the State of Indiana will celebrate its bicentennial.

In honor of this event, the Indiana Bicentennial Commission is creating a ‘Birthday Book’ of poetry. Each county in the state will submit five poems which best capture the history and spirit of that county.

You may mail or email your poem, or hand-deliver to any location of the Jasper County Public Library for consideration.

Your poem may be up to 40 lines and should have a subject and theme of Jasper County, Indiana.

Requirements:
* Current residents of one year
* Non-residents who lived in Jasper County for over twelve years.

The five best poems will be chosen by a panel of community judges and sent off to Indianapolis for submission and final judging by Brick Street Poetry. Their choice of the best poem will be added to the ‘Birthday Book’ and will represent Jasper County.

The deadline for submission is midnight, Monday September 22, 2014. Send your submission at any time of day via email to Evie Bristol at ebristol@myjcpl.org with the subject: Bicentennial Poem.

Mailed or hand-delivered submissions should be clearly labeled Bicentennial Poem on the envelope or submission.

Mail to:  Jasper County Public Library; 208 W. Susan St.; Rensselaer, IN 47978. Mailed items should be received on or by the deadline date to be considered.
