Holidays are a great time to rely on the library

old-fashioned book card reading Happy Holidays

I am a huge fan of the internet.  I love to “Google” that.  Facebook and I have an almost daily tryst.  Pintrest is the place to “be” and “do.”  However, I haven’t lost my first love of printed material.

In fact, I find myself thanking Johannes Gutenberg for his contribution of centuries ago even more during this holiday season.

There are a myriad of published ideas in our libraries to assist us in our December celebrations, and beyond.  There are recipes for cookies, that traditional necessity, abounding in our cookbook section.

See the area around 641.8654.  Or, if you’re into making special gifts, check out something around 745.594 for handmade crafts.

And don’t forget one of my favorite areas, the magazine section.  Two of special interest at this time of year are All You and FamilyFun

These each have special holiday ideas such as recipes, crafts (those children do have a winter break) shopping hints, and so much more.  All of this contained in an easily portable, storable paper form!  How much better can it get?

Sure, there will be time spent online, but believe me, I was very happy to have my books and magazines when my modem died this week. With our Jasper County Library system, there is always a plan B.

Happy holidays!
