OverDrive eBooks & eAudiobooks

Through OverDrive, you can check out popular eBook and eAudiobook titles with your library card and enjoy them for a two week lending period. Titles automatically expire at the end of the lending period, so there are no late fees.

To get started with OverDrive, first go to the Indiana Digital Download Center site and download the software that you’ll need for your system, then you can browse the collection and download your favorite titles.

OverDrive may be unavailable after 11 pm and before 8 am due to nightly system maintenance.

Getting started with OverDrive.

The OverDrive website offers easy-to-use help guides, available at the top of the page on the left hand side. Look for and click the MyHelp! logo to get started.

You will be asked to choose whether you want to use the service to listen to eAudiobooks or read eBooks. If you want to do both, don't worry, you can come back and choose the other category with the help wizard again.

You will now be asked what computer or mobile device you plan to use with the service. Your choice will allow the help wizard to select the right information to help you.

Software you will need

Whatever type of computer you are using, you will need the same basic software for the OverDrive service.

If you plan to read eBooks, you will need to download the Adobe Digital Editions software to your computer. It is further recommended you go to the website and establish an Adobe ID, which will allow you to transfer your eBook to up to 6 devices.

If you plan to listen to eAudiobooks, then you will need to download the OverDrive Media Console to your computer. This will allow you to listen on your computer and to sync with devices.

Finally, if you have a smart device such as an Android, iOS or Blackberry device, you should visit your device's App Store to obtain the OverDrive App. You can use this to directly download content on the go.
