Library has plenty for teens in December

There is lots going on at your local library all year long. Just look at the events we have lined up this month for teens.

For those teens who like to craft, especially during the holidays:

Rensselaer Library is offering a DIY Stocking Stuffer Craft Program on Tuesday, December 2nd from 6-7:30pm for adults, teens and accompanied children.  Each person in attendance will make a set of stocking stuffers for one or several stockings, all materials will be provided and registration is required.

Wheatfield Library is offering a Teen Holiday Craft program on Tuesday, December 16th from 4-5pm, where everyone who attends will be making a 2015 calendar using a CD case.  Program is free and all materials are provided.  Registration is required.

On Thursday, December 18 from 4-5pm, all ages are invited to the Family Adventure at the DeMotte Library to make and enter the gingerbread house contest. Registration is required.

For teens who like to read, check out one of our book discussions for teens in December:

Tuesday, December 16th from 4-5pm those teens in grades 7-12 are invited to a “Chat & Chew” program at Renssealer where everyone will receive a free copy of the book The Raven Boys by Maggie Stiefvater—the book discussion will then take place January 20th.  Registration is required.  The Chat & Chew program runs on the 3rd Tuesday of each month. Call the library at 866-5881 for more information.

Thursday, December 18th from 4-5pm teens in grades 6-12 are invited to discuss the book North of Beautiful by Justina Chen Headley at the Wheatfield Library.  Copies of the book are available at the library’s circulation desk.  Registration is required.  The Wheatfield Teen Book Club meets every month. All ages are invited to wear their pjs to the Rensselaer Library on Tuesday, December 30 at 2pm for a classic holiday movie featuring a young boy and a magical train. Come for the cocoa and cookies and snuggle up.
