Just for Teens

April 14-20 is National Library Week. You may wonder to yourself what the big deal is.  Well I’ll tell you why it’s a big deal.  Libraries are awesome!

If you love movies (and I do!) when you go to the movies one of the best parts, at least for me- are the trailers for the upcoming new movie releases.

Think of a time when someone was unexpectedly kind to you. Were you caught off guard and surprised by their kindness? Random Acts of kindness can often considerably brighten a person’s day and leave a lasting impression. Kindness can make the world a much better place to live.

There's no surprise that the library has a lot to say about books. But often times, books have plenty to say about the library.

Here are some quotes you might recognize about our favorite place:

Teens can look forward to several programs this month to celebrate the holidays at the library!

Learn how we made our giant Mockingjay wall pin, and how you can make one too!

Some of you might answer “Indiana,” some might answer “America,” while others might have strong ties to their cultural heritage and provide an answer that relates to places from which their parents and grandparents immigrated.

School has started! Whether you’re looking forward to the new adventure or you’re already counting down the days until the year is over, there’s one resource you should know about…Homework Hotline!

There's nothing worse than waiting for school to start and counting down the last few days of freedom like the last grape Skittles in the bag.

Summer vacation means sleeping in, trips to the pool, sleepovers with friends, family vacations, fireworks, fairs, and so much more. But, just in case you have some spare time, consider stopping in to pick up one of these “Summer” reads…you won’t be disappointed!

Own The Night is the Teen Summer Reading Program this summer at all JCPL libraries. Now is the time to visit your local library to sign up, pick up reading packets, read the various rules, and get started Reading!!

With summer just around the corner, I'm sure you're already starting to ponder how you'll spend your time.

Are you interested in something that allows you to spend time with friends, be in an air-conditioned facility, and have fun? Well, then the library is where you need to be!

It is my belief that two of the most underrated holidays occur in the month of April. In fact, these holidays are so underrated that the banks and post office don’t even close!  What are these holidays you might ask?

If you're a teen in grades 6-12, come to the library March 4-10 for special events just for you.

Every so often I enjoy scouring the internet to see what books are being made into movies.  I love coming across titles that I’ve already read and finding ideas for ones I should read before I see the movie.
