Love games? Want to change the world? Check out 26 Learning Games for Change. Try to grow a farm in Darfur and see the challenges real people in other parts of the world face every day. Learn about wolf ecology in Yellowstone National Park, tackle climate change or spend a day in the shoes of a member of Congress. Games are mostly web-based. All are free.

April - Turn Off Your TV Week

Is television rotting your brain? Is it making us a different society? This week-long event challenges viewers to give up the tube for a week, so they will learn about their television habits and will likely be more critical viewers if and when they decide to return to the tube.

September - Banned Books Week

Banned Books Week is the only national celebration of the freedom to read.

October - Teen Read Week

There are so many options for entertainment, it’s important to remember to spend time reading for pleasure: it’s free, fun, and can be done anywhere! Research shows that teens who read for fun have better test scores and are more likely to succeed in the workforce.
